THE ISSUE: The Bush administration wants Google to turn over material from its databases.
WHAT GOOGLE SAYS: It opposes releasing the information, saying it would violate users' privacy and reveal trade secrets.
WHAT'S AT STAKE: Privacy advocates are concerned that the vast amount of information Google and other search engines know about their users could be thrown open to anyone with a court order.

“Censorship and the concept of the government as a big brother, seems to exist in every country, no matter how “democratic”. In the United States, any criticism of the government, and they come after you. In India, any deviation from the rigid social fabric, and people and the self appointed cultural police come after you. Heck in some “free: countries, religious freedom is limited. All said and done, the grounds on which the offense is taken differs, the proactive section which comes after you varies.” - anomalizer

All this was food for thought, in the last few weeks, I have been contemplating on a ideal setting to settle down in post education, so far the concept of direct democracy practiced in Switzerland beckoned. Once again the question to be answered is how important are these issues say 10 years down the line, as of now I feel these are very crucial issues. Yet once one “settles” down, there may be other priorities and the aforementioned privacy and freedom issues may pale in comparison. Maybe we all get caught in daily life so much, that we do not pause to think where we are heading, maybe life becomes mechanized.

Why is privacy in itself a big deal?

The real problem is someone not appreciative of what you do and you wanting to hide those questionable activies. Privacy is an euphemism to hide these actions. So privacy is not your problem. Your problem is the people who have issues with your actions.
